SELANGOR MB CRISIS

SELANGOR MB CRISIS: PAKATAN NEEDS TO SHOW CLARITY, SAYS AMBIGA

August 11, 2014

Ambiga
(The Star) – Pakatan Rakyat should be aware of the feelings of the people of Selangor who are getting sick of the crisis involving Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, said Negara-Ku coalition co-chair Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan.
“Pakatan should be aware that many in Selangor are truly sick of the present crisis. They need clarity fast,” said Ambiga in a tweet posted on her account, @Ambiga_S at 12.14 on Monday.
Her tweet was met with much support, having been retweeted 23 times as of 1.10pm, with seven tweets in reply to her.
“@Ambiga_S Yes As Selangorian we been played out. Claim to be dream team during election. Now one pillow with different dream, said @edmund_hawee.
Another Twitter user, @dupubird said; “@Ambiga_S spoken truth, agree, selangorian who are losing not the political parties, we losing time toward our improvement and development.”
However, others like @iqbalabd said what was needed was not clarity but for Pakatan politicians to stop playing games and to do their jobs.
Khalid was sacked from PKR last Saturday following his refusal to step down as mentri besar to pave the way for PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to be Selangor’s next mentri besar.
This followed allegations of problems in the Selangor water restructuring exercise, increases in the mentri besar’s allowance, the increase in business licence taxes and the controversial Kinrara-Damansara Expressway.
Meanwhile, in SMSes to The Star Online, Ambiga explained what she meant when she said that many in Selangor needed clarity fast.
“I meant PAS has to get its act together and not keep the people waiting for its decision. The crisis has become tiring and tiresome. They should not presume upon the people’s patience,” she said.
Yes, we are fed-up with PR mess in the MB issue.
Khalid has done a great job though there are some areas to improve on so why should Anwar sack him - JUST to get RM 3 billion???
Now he is going to lose Selangor as he has lost PERAK several years ago!
WHEN will he ever learn that with the RM 3 billion investing in frogs (Umno MPs) who are not even trust-worthy and reliable.
DAP should not support him at all, and just stay NEUTRAL for our Selangor sake!
The PR ADUNs  should vote with their hearts when the time comes for a no-confidence vote against Khalid - they should rather be sacked from their parties rather than betray the VOTERs trust, the SAME goes for the EXCO members (they also bear the Sultan's trust in them as he had approved their positions in the EXCO committee.
The Speaker especially should consider her role and her duty to Selangor people.

Gaza Bishop: Hamas Used Church to Fire Rockets

Gaza Bishop: Hamas Used Church to Fire Rockets

GAZA STRIP -- Air raid sirens sounding in the Eshkol Region on Wednesday afternoon turned out to be a false alarm. The 72-hour ceasefire appears to be holding for now.
Hamas is not only using mosques to launch attacks against Israelis. It has also used a church compound.
Archbishop Alexios is Gaza's most prominent Christian leader. His decision to open his church to 2,000 Muslims escaping the war surprised many of Gaza's residents.
"Christ tells us we must love each other, our neighbors, and our enemies," Bishop Alexios told CBN News. "No other religion says that except the Christian faith."
Alexios and the estimated 1,500 Arab Christians who live in the Gaza Strip walk a fine line between trying to stay alive and the Bible's command to share God's love. Since Hamas' 2007 takeover of Gaza, residents say it's imposed strict Taliban-style Islamic laws on the people.
"Islam is the rule of this place and whatever Hamas says we must obey or face consequences," Alexios explained.
Now he's now concerned about what comes next after the guns fall silent and missiles and rockets stop flying.
"There's a lot of anger on the street. We need forgiveness and love to flow," he said.
Alexios took CBN News to the roof terrace outside his office to show how Islamists used the church compound to launch rockets into Israel. He refused to discuss details on camera for security reasons, but days after the war started, Israeli missiles targeted an area close to the church sanctuary.
Little is left of one of two minarets that used to stand tall here, not too far from the Mediterranean. It was a major mosque in the area and was reportedly hit by seven Israeli missiles.
The Israeli government said places like mosques and hospitals in densely populated areas are routinely used by Hamas to fire off their rockets.
Just around the corner from the church, Mohammed, a resident of Gaza, sat in complete shock.
"I picked up the phone and the Israeli army said I have five minutes to get out of my house -- they were going to destroy it. I had 60 people living in my apartment and had to get them out," he recalled.
Mohammed's three-story apartment complex was destroyed. He and his five brothers and their families lived in the building. The word on the street is the brothers are tied to Hamas and used the apartment to store weapons, a claim Mohammed denies.
Asked why Hamas is interested, he said, "The Israelis attack schools, they attack hospitals, they attacked mosques. You ask them. They know why. I don't know why."
This week, Israel's military released a map of Gaza showing dozens of positions from which Hamas rockets were fired. Dramatic footage from drones flying above the Strip also shows Hamas firing from populated areas.
Back at the church, Bishop Alexios said he's not out to pick a fight with Hamas or Israel. He simply wants to serve people.
"We are disciples of Jesus [and] we must give love to everyone without condition," he said.

Moderator’s note :A week back, Sivaji ( not his real name ) contacted me.
It had been quite a while since we last spoke, and I knew that he had been quite involved  in PKR.
He asked if we could meet.
I told him that I was quite pressed for time given my Negara-Ku and ABU work, and asked if there was anything urgent.
He replied that he was quite exasperated with this whole Khalid fiasco and the goings-on in PKR for some time.
He started to pour out his heart, but I stopped him.
“What do you want me to do with whatever you are going to tell me?”, I asked.
If you believe what I am about to tell you, you can write about it and put it up on your blog.”,  he replied.
“I know you well enough to trust you. This is what I will do. You write up whatever you want to tell me in a way that will not require me to do too much editing. After I have read it, if I think people have a right to know what you have written to me, I will publish it on my blog.”, I told Sivaji.
I received Sivaji’s story in the mail today.
It bore the same title as this post, and it appears below, with the minimal of editing.

Was there a  plan to remove Khalid long before the Kajang move?
Going by the revelations going around now it seems so.
But Khalid, it seems, was never in the loop of those plans.
So was he given (rather set up) to get the MBs position knowing he will get the job done and set the stage for the others to take over later?
From what has happened in the PKR elections, it seems that there was a plan to get him.
Sources have indicated that it was the top man in PKR who encouraged Khalid to contest Azmin.
Was this an attempt to show Malaysians that democracy is well and good in PKR?
We will never know.
When it dawned upon the leadership that Khalid was very much popular among the party members, Saifuddin was suddenly pushed into the race.
Most party members know this was an attempt to break Khalid’s votes.
It is very much a well known whisper amongst party members that the top man himself not only got Saifuddin to submit his nomination but phone calls were made to Division Heads to ensure votes were delivered for Saifuddin in the party elections.
Even with that Khalid has put up a good show against Azmin.
Without Saifuddin, Khalid would have won the Deputy President’s post by now.
And the Kajang move would have been buried.
Together with this was the conduct of the PKR election process.
After having much criticized the Election Commission, the PKR election Committee was no better.
There were insufficient election personnel in all the Divisions.
Ballot papers were insufficient in places where voter turnouts were larger than expected.
But more serious was the lack of independent observers, re-lections conducted without any valid reasons, voting locations in re-elections shifted to favour a particular candidate.
In Sungai Siput the incumbent Chairman and Committee were the counting agent. Ballot papers were marked by themselves. I saw this personally, gangsters from a particular camp were downstairs, so I could not do much.
In Pahang, Indian members were not encouraged to take part in the elections.
Why?
Many  Indians favour Khalid. Just the funds given to temples and Tamil schools were good enough for the Indians to have Khalid as the party deputy president.
In Sabah, where there was large voter turnout favoring Khalid, the elections were disrupted and called off.
More frightening was what took place in Selangor.
Where Indians won the Ketua Cabang, elections were called off or some reason was given to call for re-election of completed elections.
At one time the results showed that 12 of the 22 Ketua Cabang had been won by Indian members. Where the winning candidate was known to favour Saifuddin or Azmin, there was no re-election.
Kuala Selangor was another issue together. They had to shame Khalid. They did that eventually
In Sepang, the Ketua Cabang was won by an Indian member. Haji Borhan, a close ally of Azmin, lost. Re-elections were called and the voting centre shifted to a place far from the first centre. The Indian candidate lost and Haji Borhan won the re-election.
In Puchong, in the first round, Khalid got the highest votes (861 against 22 for Azmin and 20 for Saifuddin). Re-elections have been called this Sunday.
What will happen?
We will never be able to tell. There will be no voting agents seated in the hall to object, only observors. This is the SOP for re-elections in PKR.
In Kuala Selangor, the elections were held again on June 22nd and the ballot boxes taken to Party headquarters. The counting took place on the 26th at 9pm.
The SOP for counting is either the votes for Ketua Cabang or the Timbalan President would be counted first or second vice versa.
The counting here started for Timbalan President and Khalid got 517 votes as against 440 for Azmin.  Trends showed that if you win the Timbalan President votes, the Ketua Cabang aligned to the Timbalan President candidate will also win. Within 5 minutes there was a blackout. Later investigations showed there was a blackout indeed, but I still have my doubts from what I heard from the TNB.
The lights came on. The counting agents were told that the Ketua Cabang votes will be counted later.  Protests were made but no effect. The votes for Pusat Wanita were counted. Meanwhile the vote trays for Ketua Cabang was hidden from view. One slight move by persons blocking the view showed a counting clerk holding a pencil. No action taken.
Votes were counted for Ketua Cabang and Khalid lost to Mike. 515 against 701.
There 370 empty ballot papers for Timbalan President post but there was only 120 empty ballot papers for Ketua Cabang.  Those who did not know to vote for the Timbalan President suddenly knew how to vote for the Ketua Cabang.

If this is true then PKR maybe even worse than Umno, even they do not cheat in their internal elections like this!
Anwar once again wants to buy the Umno MPs to take over the country and be PM with the RM3 billion sitting in the Selangor state funds. He will not succeed even with this money!
We should prevent this and keep Khalid as MB of Selangor!

Complaints were submitted but no action taken on this.
The complaints have since gone to the ROS
Is there an attempt to get Khalid out this way?
All this failing, the present move by the PKR leadership is very much questionable as to the real reasons.
Is there an attempt to keep Azmin safe so that when all settles down he would become the MB replacing Wan Azizah?
Azmin is very quiet.
Was this the game plan all along to go for the State coffers eventually?

Malaysian federal and state governments defrauded the indigenous people (Orang Asli)

Bar Council says government defrauded Orang Asli

 | August 8, 2014
Despite a litany of promises made, both the federal and state governments have failed the Penans and Kenyah in a big way in the name of development.
Penan-tribeKUALA LUMPUR: The Bar Council yesterday, through its Orang Asli Rights and Human Rights Committee slammed the Sarawak state government for leaving the Penans and Kenyah high and dry when they were resettled to make way for the building of the Murum Dam. indigenous
During the committee’s study trip to the Metalun and Tegulang Resettlement Areas recently, the post relocation conditions of the Penans and Kenyah left much to be desired.
The study group found that the native communities were living in hazardous, treacherous conditions and in almost complete isolation from the rest of the world.
Committee member Andrew Choo said, “The resettlement project has failed.” He described the relocated communities as being “defrauded,” “cheated” and “short changed” for “which the Sarawak state government has to be held responsible.”
He said this in regards to the numerous promises made to the Penans and Kenyah that were left unfulfilled by the authorities.
Choo cited the initial food and provision subsidy of RM600 per household per month that has since dwindled to 5kg of chicken wings, flour, and cooking oil only.
Despite being relocated to make way for a dam, Choo said the irony was that the people of Metalun and Tegulang themselves enjoyed only 6 – 12 hours electricity per day.
Choo added, “As they were relocated in order to facilitate the construction of the dam, the state government and Sarawak Energy Berhad has the moral and legal obligation to ensure that their welfare is taken care of.”
The observation on the ground was also found to be in stark contrast to the pledges made by the Malaysian government to the United Nations Human Rights Council in October 2013.
The Bar Council’s vice president, Steven Thiru said the state government defaulted in upholding the recommendations of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) that was made during Malaysia’s 2013 Universal Periodic Review.
Thiru also said that indigenous people in Peninsula Malaysia were suffering the same fate as those in Sarawak because the federal government was quick to dismiss litigation of Orang Asli land disputes based on technical and procedural grounds.
“The state and federal governments are not dealing with solving the problem, but merely making the litigation go away for them, and problems remain for the Orang Asli,” Thiru said.
The Bar Council also criticised the lack of effective legislative or executive action to recognise the Orang Asli’s rights to land and resources despite the courts legally recognising it.
The shame of it all as the land 'belongs' to these people - they are more BUMI than the bumiputras (Malays). They were here before anyone's else so why treat them with such indignity and cheat them of what was promised them.
They in the first do not want to leave their NCR lands but were forced to.
The local NGOs and international community should voice out LOUDLY to the whole world what is happening to these people.

Selangor Exco speak on Khalid

Let’s hear the Selangor Exco speak

August 6, 2014
The councillors must bear collective responsibility for Khalid's alleged misdeeds.
By Kua Kia Soong
selangor excoSo far in the Selangor Menteri Besar controversy, the wrong people, namely Pakatan Rakyat leaders outside the state leadership, have been making allegations against Abdul Khalid Ibrahim amidst much sound and fury.
Actually, the only people who are accountable to the voters of Selangor are the state Executive Council (Exco) members, who form Khalid’s cabinet. We have heard many allegations against Khalid, but the councillors, except for Teng Chang Khim of DAP, have been silent.
Teng, who chairs the Local Government, Research and Development Committee of the state administration, has stepped forward to defend Khalid, rejecting claims that he acted unilaterally on a number of key administrative matters.
He said it was not true that Khalid had not consulted others when making important decisions, or that the Exco was “kept in the dark” over a recent water deal between the state and federal government.
News reports yesterday quoted him as saying: “It is not a true picture. He didn’t make decisions on his own without going through the Exco. The notice to attend (the signing ceremony) may have been short but the matter has been discussed.”
Now, would you believe a state Exco member who is prepared to bear collective responsibility for the MB’s decisions or would you believe someone who is not in the state cabinet?
For years, we have rightly criticised federal ministers for being Umno puppets and that is what Reformasi was supposed to change, wasn’t it?
The hope was to reinstate good governance demonstrated by collective leadership incorporating transparency, democracy, accountability and public participation.
So now, let’s hear our state Exco members speak. Has Khalid lived up to these principles in the last six years as the Selangor MB? If not, why didn’t you speak out or resign in protest?

Anwar deceit for MB Khalid

mt2014-corridors-of-power
Actually, there is another reason for the Kajang Move, which PKR is not telling us. After GE13 in May 2013, PKR wanted Azmin Ali to be the Menteri Besar but both PAS and DAP said no. So they had no choice but to reluctantly propose Khalid and then started planning how to get rid of him.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
I remember back in 2000 when I was summoned for an audience before ‘The Elders’ of the Selangor Royal Family soon after my release from detention. They were basically upset that I had been detained for what they said was my support for Anwar Ibrahim.
They wanted to know why I was so stupid in supporting Anwar when he collaborated with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Ghafar Baba in slandering the Rulers 15 years or so before that back in the mid-1980s.
“Anwar, like Mahathir and Ghafar, is a Republican and he wants to abolish the Monarchy and turn Malaysia into a Republic,” said The Elders. “He is the enemy and you were extremely critical of Anwar back then and now you support him and get detained without trial.”
I then explained to The Elders of the Selangor Royal Family that I do not support Anwar. In fact, soon after Anwar toppled Ghafar I had already distanced myself from him because I did not like the way Anwar spent RM200 million (money that Vincent Tan gave him) to buy his nominations that resulted in Ghafar withdrawing from the race to give Anwar a walkover.
I am not in support of Anwar, I reiterated. I am opposed to how they got rid of him. Anwar was ousted based on allegations but without any tangible evidence. And his real crime is not for abuse of power (his first trial where he was convicted and jailed) or for sodomy (his second trial where he was also convicted and later acquitted after an additional one year in jail).
Hence I am opposed to Anwar being sent to jail. And the reason he was sent to jail is because he tried to oust Dr Mahathir. In fact, I followed Anwar’s trial (I was in court every day and reported the daily events of the trial in the Free Anwar Campaign website) so I know it was all based on allegations and not on evidence.
There was no smoking gun, I argued. So, based on principle, Anwar should not have been convicted.
I was proven right four years later in September 2004 when the Federal Court agreed with what I said and acquitted Anwar. And the reason they acquitted Anwar, said the Federal Court, is because the Prosecution failed to prove its case against him although, said the Federal Court, it believes Anwar is guilty.
So what the Federal Court said is: it believes Anwar is guilty but the Prosecution could not prove it. Hence the Federal Court has no choice but to free him.
And that same principle, which was used for Anwar, is the principle we are using for Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim. And this is what the PAS central committee member, Nasrudin Hassan, meant in that news item above: there is no smoking gun. And he, too, cited Anwar’s case in his call for his party, PAS, to defend Khalid.
Initially they denied that the Kajang Move was meant to oust Khalid. Now they admit that it was and reveal that the plan was actually mooted just after the May 2013 general election.
Furthermore, now they reveal that there is a dossier on Khalid just like they revealed that there is a dossier on Anwar back in 1998. Just as we can argue that the dossier on Anwar was mere allegations, innuendoes and suspicions, so is the dossier on Khalid. There is no evidence whatsoever of wrongdoing, corruption, abuse of power, etc. It is all mere suspicions.
But there is more to the Kajang Move then we are being told. Almost all the issues — the water issue, the Bank Islam issue, the Tropicana issue, the Eco World issue — are listed as the reasons for the Kajang Move. But all this happened this year, after the launch of the Kajang Move and after it was mooted in 2013. So how can Kajang Move be about these?
Actually, there is another reason for the Kajang Move, which PKR is not telling us. After GE13 in May 2013, PKR wanted Azmin Ali to be the Menteri Besar but both PAS and DAP said no. So they had no choice but to reluctantly propose Khalid and then started planning how to get rid of him.
The plan, which was hush-hush and which PAS and DAP were not told about (and neither were the other PKR leaders, Azmin included) was for Anwar to replace Khalid as Menteri Besar.
Azmin Ali, however, found out. So before the Kajang Move could be launched, Azmin engineered his own removal from PKNS. His removal had nothing to do with the EXCO or Khalid. In fact, they were all surprised that the General Manager signed the letter for Azmin’s removal whereas he did not have the authority to do so.
Azmin then played the innocent victim and his followers started to ask for Khalid’s removal although it was not Khalid who removed him (Azmin) from PKNS. Then the Selcat meeting was convened to discuss Azmin’s removal and after that the Selangor State Assembly discussed the matter and insisted on his reinstatement.
It was after the PKNS controversy that the Kajang Move was launched, supposedly to restore peace in Selangor with Anwar taking over as Menteri Besar so that neither Khalid nor Azmin can have that job.
Of course, there is also the RM50 million ‘donation’ from a businessman to the party to get them to force Khalid to reverse his decision on a certain business deal. When Khalid refused to play ball this convinced Anwar even more that Khalid had to go.
So the dossier has nothing to do with it.
Anyway, Khalid is calling their bluff and today he sent two letters, one to PKR’s Disciplinary Board responding to the party’s show cause letter and another to the MACC asking them to investigate the allegations against him.
You can read the full contents of the letters in the links below, which are in Bahasa Malaysia, and if you can’t read Bahasa Malaysia, well….
Let us see what happens from hereon but the long and short of it is Khalid has accepted the noonday gunfight duel at O.K. Corral. This Selangor MB Crisis is getting most interesting by the minute.
Now its seems that Anwar is prepared to lose Selangor to BN in Snap elections just to rid Khalid.
All for his own agenda - divert state funds to his personal use.
Lost Perak not too long ago, now Selangor's turn.
We voters are not amused nor patient with all this.
PKR do not have the RIGHT to name a MB, since they had the least Aduns in the state assembly.
DAP should STOP supporting PKR in their bid to oust Khalid.
We should SUPPORT Khalid now!
Anyone from PKR who become MB will do harm than good!
Anwar should not be the Opposition Leader anymore as he has shown his unfavourable character!

Azmin Ali cannot be MB

I am a Selangorian. And I will not have Azmin Ali as my MB

Malaysiakini reports today that the PKR political bureau met at its headquarters last night.
As expected, the matter of Khalid and his refusal to make way for a new MB came up for discussion.
Malaysiakini, quoting a source from within PKR, reports that the party may put forth a second name, as alternative to Wan Azizah, to replace Khalid, with a view to placating some of the members within the party and, I am guessing, some leaders in PAS.
The second name they propose : Azmin Ali.
I will be short and sweet on this.
I will not accept Azmin Ali as my MB.
Period.
I totally agree with Haris, Azmin will not be a good MB.
His greedy chubby fingers will grab the RM3 billion and leave the state poorer than during Umno days!
People like that should just do their own business and not be a MB and  mind state or taxpayers funds!
