The word Allah that has been used since pagan times before Islam came into being!

Much ado about nothingNO HOLDS BARRED
The issue here is: who has the right over the name Allah? Is it exclusive to Muslims or can Christians also share this name? And since we are using logic and applying common sense to argue this case (as many have done, Tommy Thomas included) then we need to first of all determine the existence of the name, which we will have to fall back on Genesis to do that. NO HOLDS BARRED Raja Petra Kamarudin The court ruling forbidding Christians from using the Allah word is still a hot issue. Many religious and legal experts have given their expert opinion on the matter. You can read one such opinion by constitution lawyer Tommy ThomasHERE. I must admit that most opinions are rather logical and make a lot of sense. But then we assume that matters of religion are logical and make a lot of sense. If not then you are attempting to use logic and talk sense in a matter that defies logic and does not make sense. Some of what the religious and legal experts argue is a…

Malaysia's self-styled image as a global leader of moderate Islam???

Reuters) - Malaysia's self-styled image as a global leader of moderate Islam has been undermined by a court ruling that only Muslims can use the word "Allah" to refer to God, with a growing number of Muslim scholars and commentators condemning the decision.
A Malaysian court ruled last week that the word was "not an integral part of the faith in Christianity", overturning a previous ruling that allowed a Malay-language Roman Catholic newspaper to use the word. Since then, confusion has reigned over the interpretation of the ruling, with government ministers, lawyers and Muslim authorities giving widely diverging views on its scope. Critics of the decision have said it casts a chill on religious rights in Muslim-majority Malaysia, which has substantial minorities of ethnic Chinese and Indians. Commentators in some countries that practise Islam more strictly than Malaysia have condemned the ruling, arguing that the word Allah has been used by different faiths fo…

Award-winning American Muslim scholar on Allah ruling: “We are laughing at you”

Award-winning American Muslim scholar on Allah ruling: “We are laughing at you” BY ELIZABETH ZACHARIAH
OCTOBER 22, 2013 Reza Aslan says Christians using the word Allah do not pose a threat to Islam. - Pic courtesy Wikimedia Commons / Roanoke College, October 22, 2013.A well-known American Muslim theologian has joined a long list of critics over the recent Court of Appeal ruling on the use of the word Allah, saying it was a "political decision more than anything else". "This notion that Malaysian Muslims need to be protected by the court because you can't think for yourself, you can't make decisions on your own. We are laughing at you," said Reza Aslan, speaking on BFM Radio's Evening Edition programme yesterday. "That you can control people's ideas, their behaviour, their faith and their minds simply by trying to control the words that they use, is absurd. It is an embarassment to a modern, constitutional, democratic and deeply Muslim state like …

JAKIM screwing up big time

The People's Parliament We are here, not because we are law-breakers; we are here in our efforts to become law-makers – Emmeline Pankhurst Whose sin is it when Muslims adhere to a JAKIM screw up? Posted on October 18, 2013 5
So the Shia in Malaysia are taking their plight of persecution here at the instance of the UMNO-led BN government to the United Nations, reportsMalaysiakini. You may or may not know this, but on 23rd June, 1996, the Islamic religious authorities issued a fatwa declaring that“ajaran Islam yang lain daripada pegangan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah adalah bercanggah dengan hukum syarak dan undang-undang Islam ; dan dengan demikian penyebaran apa-apa ajaran yang lain daripada pegangan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah adalah dilarang”. In short, only the Sunni sect was kosher in Malaysia, and that all other sects, including the Shia, were prohibited. This is interesting because some 12 years before, in September, 1984, the National Fatwa Council had decreed that only the Az-Zaidiah an…

What right have Muslims to copyright the name Allah, asks Pakistan daily BY ELIZABETH ZACHARIAH
OCTOBER 18, 2013 Part of the Muslim NGO groups who were gathered outside the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya on Monday when the ruling on Allah was made. The Malaysian Insider pic, October 18, 2013.A newspaper in Muslim-majority Pakistan has joined in the chorus of criticism against Putrajaya over  the use of the word Allah by non-Muslims. The English-language Daily Times, in its editorial piece in conjunction with the Eid-al-Adha celebrations, was critical of the controversial ruling by the Court of Appeal which reversed a previous High Court ruling, allowing Catholic weekly Herald to use Allah in its Bahasa Malaysia section.  It lamented that the problem with Muslims is that they looked at their religion like it was an "insecure entity" that needed to be protected with special care and attention lest it gets smeared and nullified. "The recent example of this attitude is displaye…
