GUA MUSANG: The Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa) is trying to end the blockade by more than 200 Orang Asli who are protesting logging activities in the Balah permanent forest reserve here.
Director-General Mohd Jamalludin Kasbi said Jakoa had the first meeting with related government agencies this evening.
“I believe the issue can be resolved via talks and without any untoward incidents,” he said after the first meeting at Wisma Persekutuan here today.
The agencies include the police, Kelantan Forestry Department, Gua Musang Land Office and the Kelantan Health Department.
Earlier, Jakoa met with the Orang Asli groups.
Since Sept 26, more than 200 Orang Asli had gathered at Kampung Petei, Pos Bering, to stop lorries from entering the area, causing a dispute with the loggers.
The Orang Asli want logging activities to end. They claim that they destroy the water catchment area and affect their source of water supply.
Following the blockade, the Kelantan Government today suspended all logging activities in the area.
Mohd Jamalludin said all the parties involved understood the situation and would resolve the issue via talks with the Orang Asli community.
He also welcomed the Kelantan Government’s decision to suspend all logging activities in the area.
“It will defuse the situation so that talks with the Orang Asli groups can be done in harmony and without any interruption.”
Logging blockade - Kelantan govt to blame? Yes, I believe so - these religious people do not know how to manage the state resources at all. And alienting the land rights of these OA people like as though they are not human beings - What a SHAME! such travesty!!! Best for them to stay focused on religious maters and leave running of state to more capable, competent leaders, so the NEXT State election - they (PAS) should not WiN!!!! period!!!

No need to sack Jamal, says Bung Moktar

No need to sack Jamal, says Bung Moktar

The Umno Supreme Council member says Jamal was not acting in his capacity as Sungai Besar Umno division chief but as the leader of the Red Shirts movement.
bung-jamalPETALING JAYA: The Umno Disciplinary Board does not need to sack Sungai Besar Umno Division Chief Jamal Yunos over his actions to disrupt the Bersih 5 convoy in Teluk Intan, Perak, a party leader from Sabah said today.
Umno Supreme Council Member Bung Moktar Radin said this was because Jamal was not acting in his capacity as an Umno division chief, but as the leader of the Red Shirts movement.
“I don’t blame Jamal because Bersih also act like thugs. I watched the video. Bersih also acted rudely,” the Kinabatangan MP told FMT.
Yesterday, former Gopeng Umno Wanita Chief Hamidah Osman said Jamal’s actions to disrupt the convoy tarnished Umno’s good name and encouraged thuggish behaviour.
Hamidah, who was sacked from Umno for disciplinary reasons last November, said a leader should not invite his followers to rough up those who participate in public programmes, as Bersih had the right to carry out programmes so long as they did not run afoul of the law.
Meanwhile, another Umno Supreme Council member, Aziz Kaprawi, said only the police were allowed to determine who broke the law.
“Both Bersih and the Red Shirts movement are non-governmental organisations (NGOs). As long as there is no breaking of the law, their activities are permissible. Only the police can determine who broke the law in this case,” Aziz said.
He added that it was Bersih participants who first displayed thuggish behaviour, pointing to past rallies where Bersih participants overturned a police car, assaulted cops and vandalised public property.
The deputy transport minister added that when Bersih took to the streets, others were bound to follow.
“If Bersih did not take to the streets, then the Red Shirts movement would not have either.”
On Saturday, the Bersih 5 convoy, organised by Bersih 2.0, kicked off at multiple locations nationwide to publicise the rally and its demands for institutional reform.
As the convoy marched in Teluk Intan, they were confronted by Red Shirts supporters led by Jamal, who blocked their path, and subsequently a scuffle broke out between the two groups.
Bersih 2.0 Chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah claimed the scuffle erupted because Jamal attacked a Bersih activist, while Jamal claimed the Bersih activists started pushing and shoving first.
However, video footage showed that the scuffle started after Jamal had snatched a banner from the hands of a Bersih activist.
Meanwhile, Star Online reported that Hilir Perak Deputy Police Chief Yahaya Hassan said no punches were traded during the incident.
Yahaya added that the police had already identified several individuals who started the scuffle and would take action against them.
What a load of RUBBISH this Bung Moktar Radin is saying. He will always represents Umno, whether official or unofficial! Let us see what the police will do and what the AG will do if he is charged!

STROKE WARNING SIGNS YOU SHOULDN’T IGNORE!

STROKE WARNING SIGNS YOU SHOULDN’T IGNORE!

According to the latest statistics, the medical experts say that strokes are a leading cause of adult disability and the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. It is a “brain attack” that occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is interrupted. In this article we are going to talk about strokes, the most common warning signs and how to protect yourself.

First, you should know that there are 2 major types of strokes: ischemic and hemorrhagic. Ischemic strokes are more common and are caused by a narrowing or blocking of arteries to the brain, resulting in severely reduced blood flow. Hemorrhagic strokes are less common and are caused by bleeding in the brain.
Every type of stroke is characterized by different symptoms, and it has a different impact on every individual. But, strokes have one thing in common – their symptoms occur suddenly.
We give you the most common signs and symptoms of stroke:
  • Trouble strolling, poor balance and loss of control
  • Trouble talking, inability to speak properly
  • Numbness in limbs and face, especially in one side of the body
Other common symptoms of stroke:
  • Complete paralysis
  • Vision problems (in one or both eyes)
  • Unexpected and unexplained disappointment
Learn what the F.A.S.T. acronym means to recognize stroke more easily:
  1. Face: Carefully examine your face. Is your smile normal? Take a closer look to your sagginess.
  2. Arms: Raise your arms. Pay attention if any of your arms drifts downward
  3. Speech: Replicate a fundamental phrase of your choice. Is your speech or slurry?
  4. Time: Every minute matter for you. Get some medical help as soon as possible.
Keep in mind that the warning symptoms occur instantly. Do not wait for your condition to improve or get worse. Call an ambulance once you notice any of the aforementioned symptoms.
Do not even try to drive to the hospital, because the medical team will start off their life-saving techniques way before you even get to the hospital.
Sometimes these symptoms disappear after several minutes, but you have to get some help anyway. In medicine, these breaks are called transient ischemic assaults (TIAs), and they actually increase the risk of experiencing a full stroke.
Some people cannot make a difference of strokes and migraine, and we give you a few tips on how to differentiate these two:
The symptoms of stroke occur instantly, and migraine develops gradually.
Migraine symptoms are sometimes positive in the way of added stimuli. The sufferer may view flashing lights and even zigzag forms.
TIA signs start developing with unpleasant symptoms, including loss of hearing, vision, and limb power.
Strokes can happen to individuals at any age, but several groups of individuals have a higher risk of experiencing it.
Cases of stroke were recorded in people of all ages, but there are certain groups of people who are at greater risk. This is a list of things that increase the risk of developing stroke:
-Diabetes
-Hypertension
-Smoking
-Being 55 years old or older
-Heart muscle issues, atrial fibrillation and blood disorders
-Aesthetic issues, migraines
-Genetics.
If you want to prevent stroke, you must be active. Start by introducing healthy changes in your diet and lifestyle. Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains and start exercising.
