Abang Johari: DAP is Mahathir’s puppet
SIBU, May 3 — Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg tonight described DAP as a puppet of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He is baffled as to how the two warring parties could initiate a cooperation.
“While on the way from the airport just now, I saw a billboard that says SUPP is like an Umno puppet. How can it be, there is no Umno here. SUPP is not Umno’s puppet.
“But DAP is Mahathir’s puppet. They didn’t like Mahathir, now they are friends with him. Baffles me how they could submit to Mahathir. Mahathir seldom came here,” he said at a gathering here tonight.
He reminded the people in Sarawak that voting for DAP meant voting for Mahathir to become prime minister again.
According to him, Sarawak BN needed the undivided support of the people in order to have a strong representation at federal level to pursue Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
Nevertheless, Abang Johari said he could not prevent voters if they wanted to choose Mahathir, as the country practised democracy.
“But at the same time they must think about the future, because no other party could determine and fight for the future of the state except Sarawak-based parties,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, he described DAP’s announcement on the appointment of only state DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen as federal minister for Sarawak should they win the general election as insensible considering the size of the state, which is almost as big as the peninsula. — Bernama
